2024 Renewals Due
Year in Review Letter from CEO Debbie Ryan
Dear Doctors and Staff of Alaska,
Warm wishes for the coming holiday season!
2023 was coined to be the year of CHANGE! We have spent the year updating our website and moving to a new Association Management Software (AMS) as well as adding Learning Management Software (LMS) for our doctors and staff to have access to training and CE courses. While it has been a big lift for us as a small staff, we are greatly pleased by the company CE21’s support and assistance in this transition. We are hoping that you as a user will find it more user friendly, and the LMS will give you added value as you navigate the future of our offices. Please let us know if you need assistance or would like to see other services provided to help you and your staff.
*If you are already a member, your membership will automatically renew on January 1st, 2024 using the card on file, or you will be invoiced directly.
80% Rule and the Coalition for Reliable Medical Access
ACS continues to partner with many other professional groups in efforts to stop the repeal of the 80% Rule in the Alaska Division of Insurance. On November 4, 2023 the legal team for the Coalition filed in court for an injunction against the state. I want to take a moment to thank Dr. John Morris for his leadership in the endeavor and encourage all Chiropractic Physicians in Alaska to read the complaint (attached) and to donate even a small amount to help in this fight. The complaint clearly outlines what the future of healthcare could look like, should this rule be repealed. Please look for future communications regarding what you as an office and a citizen can do to help in this endeavor. Regular updates will be provided.
ACS has a NEW member benefit!
“Ask the Expert” when it comes to billing and coding, only an expert will do. Our members have been quite active on this service since we rolled it out in November. Alaska Minimum Wage Will Increase in 2024
The Alaska minimum wage will increase from $10.85 to $11.73 in 2024. In 2014, Alaska voters passed a ballot initiative to annually adjust the minimum wage for inflation. Read more about the wage increase in the article on the ACS website by clicking HERE.

Alaska’s Health Care Price Transparency Law
AS.18.23.400 – The law requires health care providers and facilities to post the undiscounted prices of their top procedures in their offices and online. The law also requires the state to post these prices.
A health care provider or facility must post lists of the previous calendar year’s services by January 31 of each year.
In 2024, you would be posting your pricing for 2023.

Mark your calendars ** ACS 2024 Annual Convention will be held at the Hotel Captain Cook October 3-6, 2024. We are assembling a wonderful lineup of speakers and vendors for your success. Stay tuned for additional information.

Mailing Price Increases for 2024
The U.S. Postal Service has announced new prices for 2024. If approved, the new postage rates are scheduled to go into effect on January 21, 2024, resulting in a roughly 2% increase in mailing services product prices. To see the full increase schedule, click here
DO YOU HAVE UNCLAIMED PROPERTY?
It was recently brought to our attention that many chiropractic offices and/or doctors have money sitting in the State of Alaska’s unclaimed property division. This could be insurance checks that never made it to you, refunds that are owed and many other reasons. Please visit the website and search your name, clinic, or family members to claim money that is owed to you!
