We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and patients of Dr. David Mulholland, long time member of the Society and advocate of the chiropractic profession in Alaska. He will be missed greatly.
Dr. David John Mulholland, or “Dr. Dave” as he was known, passed away on August 15, 2021 after an unexpected accident in Show Low, AZ. His immediate family was present with him at the hospital in Scottdale, AZ until the time when he crossed over into heaven.
David was born in Hamilton Beach, CA and moved with his family soon after to Hammond, Indiana. He was raised there until he left home for Rockford College, Illinois at the age of 17 on a swimming scholarship. From there, he proceeded to Palmer College in Iowa and completed his education by the age of 23. He moved to Anchorage in 1982 and began his Chiropractic practice in October of that year.
Shortly after beginning his career, he met his future wife Kristi in the Spring of 1984. They were married September 21, 1985 and remained lovingly committed, residing in Anchorage with their family. They were looking forward to celebrating their 36th anniversary this fall.
David was a man of many hobbies and passions, a lifelong learner of everything he could get his hands on. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, hunting, flying and working on his airplane. He was a lifelong follower of Christ and a longstanding member of the Christian Businessmen’s Committee. He was a servant to the community, and enjoyed healing others so much that he often stayed at the clinic late or visited friends and patients on weekends. With a truly selfless heart, he showed his love to his friends and family by acts of service.
All who knew him will miss him dearly, recalling his famous “dad jokes” for years to come. He was a great mentor and friend, known for engaging in long conversations. His children and grandchildren will remember him as the “donut fairy” and “tickle monster” and will cherish those moments of happiness.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Ingeborg Mulholland and his brother, Kenneth Mulholland.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kristi Mulholland; daughter Erin (husband Chris) Klein; son Ryan (wife Katrina) Mulholland; son Kevin (fiancée Shelby) Mulholland; brother William Mulholland; father-in-law Raymond (wife Bonnie) Caginia; mother-in-law Jan Caginia; brother-in-law Michael (wife Lynn) Caginia; grandchildren Ashlyn Klein, Vivian Goodman, Oliver Mulholland, Owen Mulholland; nephews Brian Mulholland, Joe Mulholland; nieces Kristin (husband Casey) OConner, Nicole (fiancée Bryce) Caginia, Rachel Caginia; and multiple great nieces and nephews.
A celebration to remember and honor his life will be held at 3 PM on September 10, 2021 at Anchorage Baptist Temple 6401 E Northern Lights Blvd, Anchorage, AK 99504.
David’s family requests those wishing to send flowers or other condolence items donate to CBMC, Community Pregnancy Center of Anchorage, Alaska Correction Ministries or a charity of your choice.
